The Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest is in its 27th Year. Entrants from schools sponsored by numerous clubs in our district gathered at our Mid-Year Conference on 11th October 2014 for judging the finalists in our District410A. The guest speaker prior to the finalist being announced was Mrs. Nelia Hardman, who is a creative Art Teacher at the Edgemead Primary School. Mrs Hardman gave us an enthralling insight into the importance of art in schools and how such initiatives as our peace poster contest create a space for entrants to express themselves in art.
The theme for this Lionistic year was – “Peace, Love and Understanding” 2014 – 2015. The judges Ald. Clive Justus and Mrs. Nelia Hardman adjudged the following students submissions as grand prize winners:-
1st Prize winner – Keagan Larkin – Kirstenhof Primary School – sponsored by the Tokai Lions Club.
2nd Prize winner – Rosie Bruce – Springfield Convent School – sponsored by the Newlands Lions Club.
3rd Prize winner – Megan Nel – Gordons bay Primary School – sponsored by the Gordons Bay Lions Club.
We are rooting for our finalist to go through all the local and international ranks and hopefully win the ultimate Lions International Peace Poster competition.
