Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s Birthday

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu

As DC Marketing I had the pleasure of representing District 410A at the St George’s Cathedral Celebration Service and afterwards at the country reception.

It’s a well known source of great humour that His Grace has a great Appreciation for lovely ladies and here he is with a bevy of beauties and the Lions Rose.

PDG Clive Fox and the Baobab singers. Here PDG Clive presents the group with a 2010 Peace Convention pin.

Whilst a guest at Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s birthday party PDG Clive Fox met a few of the guests including Prince Buthulezi, Bono and the beautiful Baobab singers.

Their voices are beautiful and after singing at the Cathedral Service they received a standing ovation and cries for an encore! Having sung for His Grace many times before he personally invited them to sing on this special occasion.

Family Weekend Lions

District 410A donated R1,000 to Camphill Village as a birthday gift in the name of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu who designated them as one of his birthday beneficiaries.

DG Maisie decided to help feed the piggies as an additional service project. Accompanied by PDG Clive Fox they toured the facilities which are home to many challenged residents. Operating as productive farm their cows are milked twice daily and the milk is turned into lovely cheese. There is a bakery as well which supplies bread to commercial customers in Cape Town as well as for the residents through their shop.

Camphill Village needs to raise funds in excess of R43,000 per resident per year and also runs a regular market selling dairy products, bread, natural handmade soaps and other handmade products.
